OPI joins with Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival 2009

OPI was on hand at Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival in Martin Place on Tuesday, August 18 at the Seafolly parade.

The brand will also be involved with the group swimwear showing, Summer Holidays on Thursday, August 20.

Featuring the latest bright shades from their Spring and Summer collections, OPI manicurists tended to the nails of models in the showcase.

Tuesday’s Seafolly parade boasted vibrant and colourful swimsuits complete with feathers, frills, tassles, electric make-up – and bright OPI nail accessories.

Seafolly models sported a vibrant bright shade of cherry pink, Charged Up Cherry by OPI combined with hot pink ribbed eyes, blue mascara and pink pouty lips.

The showcase demonstrated that bright and colourful nails and makeup are the preferred style at this year’s Rosemont Sydney Fashion Week.

From bright poppy pink and vibrant bright orange to fluoro green and aquatic blue, the nail trend of spring and summer 2009 is bold and bright.

Swimwear styles included 1950s-inspired maillots and hipsters, alongside 1970s-inspired string bikinis with halter-neck and detailed tassle trim.

The Seafolly “castaway” theme set the mood for a hippy bohemian style parade, complete with feathers in the hair and head scarves.

From the beach to the bar, the stage was electric with a rainbow of bright and colourful swimwear, from coral and hot pinks, to candy stripped, florals, feathered patterns and modern tie dye designs.

Summer Holiday, the group swimwear showing on Thursday August 20, will showcase swimwear, beach accessories and resort-style ready-to-wear collections.

Collections on show are from designers Camilla Franks, Flamingo Sands, JETS by Jessika Allen, Kooey, Lenny and WhiteSands.

Karon McKendrick-Taylor, OPI Educator and Colour Stylist, said of the colour selection chosen for nails at Sydney Fashion Week: “We worked closely with the stylists and designers for each show, blending in with the vibrancy and brightness of their outfits. There is definitely a feeling of bold, bright colours this summer”.

“It’s all about having fun, fun, fun in the sun. Don’t be afraid to liven up your outfit with colour and don’t take your nails too seriously; it’s only colour,” she added. “Bold bright nails make a statement, they are festive and interchangeable. You can change your colour to suit your mood or occasion."

Rosemount Sydney Fashion Week runs until Saturday, August 22.
