1. Show stopping lips at Jason Wu

This look by Maybelline lead makeup artist Yadim Carraza at Jason Wu stopped us in our tracks. No matter how beautiful the clothes (and you know they were beautiful), the matte red lips had our complete attention.

Created with a Maybelline Lip Pencil and topped with red pigment, Carraza says the lips stand out because the models aren’t wearing anything else. A fresh take on siren red lips, anyone?

2. No-makeup makeup at Dion Lee

Inspired by warmth, skin and woven textures, Aussie designer Dion Lee sent a characteristically sharp collection down the runway. Val Garland for MAC created perfect, natural skin but, we have to admit, it was the jewellery adorning the models’ faces that grabbed our attention. Handcrafted by Sarah & Sebastian, the fine chains perfectly outlined the profile of each models’ face for some hard-core contouring.

3. Bold nails at Libertine

The clothes at Libertine took inspiration from rebellious German artist Blinky Palermo, and the nails by CND were designed to reflect the abstract collection. The result? Bold colours in neat, precise patterns, painted with Shellac Brand 14+ day nail colour and Vinylux Weekly Polish in nearly-neon shades of yellow, pink, blue, orange and green.

“The nail concepts CND comes up with are ingenious,” says Libertine designer Johnson Hartig. “They took the art inspiration and reinvented it on the nails like a decadent gallery show on tiny canvases.”

4. Disco fever at DVF

It was all about blue and green jewel tones at Diane Von Furstenberg, with the cool shades gracing the lids of big names including Karlie Kloss, Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid. Created by Pat McGrath, the look was bolder than the no-makeup makeup that many artists have been sending down the runway, and we love her for it.

For clients that want a similar ‘70s look, rim the eyes with a thick aquamarine eye shadow, wetting the pigment first, and extend it above the crease. A tight line of pearly blue along the top lash will add dimension, and be sure to finish with a whole lot of mascara. To avoid it looking too ‘70s, McGrath added a spot of peach blush on fresh skin, highlighter along the cheekbones and a lick of lip balm.

5. Cute coral at Jeremy Scott

We’re used to seeing bright collections from Jeremy Scott, and he certainly didn’t disappoint this season. Working with MAC, lead makeup artist Kabuki created an amazing beauty look that garnered as much attention as the ‘80s inspired threads.

Although the bouffant wigs and drawn on lashes might be a bit much for the average girl on the street, that bright, matte coral lip—created using three MAC Lipmix colours—is definitely our to-try list.

6. Face masks at Givenchy

Ok, so clients probably won’t be requesting this amazing/crazy/totally OTT look any time soon, but how could we leave it out?! Another show by artist Pat McGrath, the masks at Givenchy were made of jewels and lace, and took more than five hours to apply using professional adhesive.

Underneath, McGrath kept it simple with a bit of concealer, brown mascara on the top lashes, greyish brown shadow around the eyes and bleached brows.

Have your say: What are your favourite runway beauty looks this season?
