NEW: Beauty emojis!

Feel like the emojis you currently have in your phone don’t allow you to communicate properly with your industry friends? We have the answer.

LÓreal USA has just launched Beaumoji, a librabry of 130 beauty related emojis (to help you communicate in beauty speak a bit easier.)
LÓreal USA has just launched Beaumoji, a librabry of 130 beauty related emojis (to help you communicate in beauty speak a bit easier.)

With only two makeup emojis (a lippie and pink fingernails) currently on offer, any style -conscious woman, let alone a beauty insider (yep, looking at you) will lament the desperate shortage of beauty-related emojis at our disposal. What about mascara? Lashes? Manicures? Scents? Lips? The hairdresser? A pamper session? Frankly, what if we just want to add a bit of style to that same-old smiley face we all love and loath. Well, L’Oréal USA has come to our communication rescue with the announcement of Beaumoji.

With a whopping 130 icons dedicated to the beauty-conscious among us, Beaumoji is a messaging keyboard that aims to solve all our gripes with the current emoji offering.

Currently only available in the US, these new styled-up emojis are pretty true to real life in the beauty world…. Lipstick swatches up the arms? Check.  Styled brows? Sorted. An eye mask? You bet.  And to make it easier to find the perfect one, the emojis have been categorised into groups such as It Girl and Pampered Life. Naturally, iconic L’Oréal products also feature in the mix, (think cult products Maybelline New York Great Lash Mascara and the Urban Decay Naked Palette) and if you use them or any of the others, you’ll be privy to seasonal upgrades from the company.

No longer are we restricted to one lipstick and one shade of polish in our emoji library. Hooray!

Available on iOS and Android, this new emoji offering will make it easier for beauty buffs to talk about the latest makeup trends, while beauty industry friends (yep, you again) can talk day-to-day business without having to resort to smiley faces blowing kisses all the time.

“Our goal is to provide emojis that beauty enthusiasts crave and speak to their unique passions, lifestyles and personalities,” says L’Oréal USA vice president of innovation and entrepreneurship Rachel Weiss.

Sick of the smiley face? Now you can get styled-up emojis to demonstrate your state of mind.

Short hand beauty speak? Bring it on. At Professional Beauty, we are holding out for this to land in Australia (wonder if there is an emoji holding her breath in there…?).
