The ‘BUMCIAL’ Is Here

Bums are big this season, in more ways than one. And the ‘bumcial’ treatment is seeing salons embrace our growing appreciation for the derriere.

Feeling cheeky?

Unless you’ve been living in a cave recently, you’ve probably noticed big bottoms are making a comeback.

(Did anyone else just start singing Sir Mix-A-Lot’s ‘I like big butts’ in their head?)

Perhaps we have the new slew of curvaceous celebs like Kim Kardashian and Nicki Minaj to thank for this trend, but whatever the reason, this is the season of the butt. And we’re getting to the bottom of this trend. (Couldn’t resist.)

…salons have been charging up to $650 an hour for the privilege of beautifying clients’ behinds.

Forget the selfie. It’s all about the belfie. (And yes, that’s what it sounds like: a bum selfie.)

From butt implants to entire bum-toning fitness crazes, it was only a matter of time until the commercial world of bottom improving products expanded to the salon.

The ‘bumcial’ (you’re probably getting it by now: yep, that’s a bum facial), has been making waves recently in the US, where some salons have been charging up to $650 an hour for the privilege of beautifying clients’ behinds.

Clients are required to change into a disposable g-string and lie face down for the treatment, which involves exfoliation, skin tightening treatments and massage, to promote toned muscles.

More than one session is recommended to achieve noticeable results, which are said to range from smoother buns to a more lifted, perky looking behind.

Have your say: Do you think the bumcial will take off in Oz? Would you do it in your salon?
