The New Kid On The Block: Micellar Water

The latest craze in cleansing is micellar water. So what is it?

The age of multi-tasking products is in and owning individual products for each concern is out. Clients want bang for their buck with products that will tend to a multitude of issues in one fell swoop, which has made way for a hybrid breed of beauty products that do it all.

Designed with exactly this in mind, micellar water has exploded into the beauty market with massive success thanks to its can-do attitude and user-friendly design. So what exactly is it, and how does it work?

What is it?

Created in France, micellar water’s name was inspired by the micelles – which means lipid (oil) molecules –  in its watery formula. And those molecules are where the magic begins. When applied to the skin, the micelles attach to dirt and makeup, allowing impurities to be easily washed away.

The solution looks and feels similar to a toner, with the key difference of possessing powerful cleansing properties. But more than that, micellar water works to treat the skin whilst washing away impurities, leaving it soft and hydrated.

How it’s used

Similar to the way face wipes work, micellar water doesn’t require rinsing from the skin, it can simply be applied with hands or a cotton pad, which can then be swiped across the face to wash away dirt and makeup, and then left to continue do its magic work.

Who can use it?

Because of its gentle formulation, micellar water is an ideal skincare choice for clients with sensitive skin, though is ideal for all skin types. Clients who suffer from acne breakouts and oily skin can also gain benefits from using micellar water as part of their daily at-home skincare routine.
