Macquarie Medi Spa has gained global recognition this month, winning the award for Best Beauty Spa at the World Luxury Spa Awards in Switzerland.
Up against 38 countries across the globe, Macquarie Medi Spa’s prestigious win proves the calibre of the Australian beauty industry.
Medi Spa Owner, Karla McDiarmid said she was overwhelmed to receive such a coveted award amongst so many world-renown salons.
“To win the award for best luxury beauty spa was amazing. We are so excited to think a business from a little town like Bathurst won this,” says McDiarmid who flew to the Swiss Alps to accept the award.
Before receiving the award, McDiarmid had no idea that she would be taking out the top spot.
“I am so proud to be able to represent Bathurst and Australia on the world stage,” she says. “It was such an opportunity.”
The spa is well known for its treatment menu which focuses on effective skincare that delivers results. McDiarmid credits this and the salon success to using Dermalogica in their treatments.
“I always believe a lot of my success comes from working with Dermalogica in Sydney… my ongoing training and support, and love for this brand,” says McDiarmid. “I know I wouldn’t be where I am today without my training from Dermalogica.”
McDiarmid also credits the success of the business to her ten dedicated staff members.
“A very big thank you goes out to the incredible team of dedicated and enthusiastic young women who call Macquarie MediSpa their home each day,” she said. “These young women have magic in their fingers and are like sisters to me.”
McDiarmid explains that the next step in her career could be to help with mentoring other local business owners.
The key to her success? McDiarmid says it’s all about loving what you do and being passionate.
“We’re nurturers. It is one of the few jobs that make people feel better,” she says. “It’s a gift to be in this industry.”
