Early in September, the Australasian College Broadway, a leading Australian hair and beauty educational facility, hosted a delegation of Chinese education officials.

The visit was part of an initiative launched by the Australian Council for Private Education and Training (ACPET) called the International Engagement Strategic Plan.

As part of the action plan, ACPET invited delegates from Singapore, Vietnam and China to showcase some of the world class Australian private education facilities available to international students across many vocations.

Australasian College Broadway founder and chairwoman, Ms. Maureen Houssein-Mustafa said, “Given the international student drop-off experienced by our industry due to immigration changes earlier this year, we are extremely supportive of this program.”

“Visits such as these are crucial to reopening the dialogue with Asian partners. Relationships can be improved markedly and we can rebuild our once strong reputation for educational excellence which was tarnished by a number of rogue providers, who are thankfully being weeded out and are closing their doors rapidly.”

“These initiatives will cement new direct partnerships between Australian and Asia Pacific Colleges, providing reciprocal study opportunities for staff and students alike. We welcome these steps forward and commend ACPET for showing leadership in these vital areas.”

During the visit Chinese delegates toured the impressive facility, which currently caters to over 750 students housing 66 hairdressing stations, 40 beauty areas, 28 nail, 10 pedicure, 16 makeup stations and a full sized runway.

Discussions revolved around international College requirements and what is required to work towards global recognition of qualifications.

The next step will see the Australasian College Broadway sending a delegation to visit China potential counterparts in November.

At a recent Asian Pacific International Education Forum hosted in Melbourne, Ms. Maureen Houssein-Mustafa was chosen by ACPET as one of over 50 educational leaders from across the Asian Pacific Region, to openly discuss issues pertaining to the international education market.
