George Schaeffer, founder and CEO of OPI has announced his retirement and future plans.
After 32 years as the man behind one of the most successful beauty brands, George Schaeffer will be leaving his position as CEO. George will continue to be a part of the company by working with OPI’s management team.
Throughout his 32 with the brand, OPI has lived through many highlights that made it the well-known international brand it is today. The brand has been granted more than 30 Patents for its nail care innovations and is currently distributed in over 100 countries across 6 continents.
“What an incredible ride. After more than 30 years I have decided it’s time for me to move on. At the end of this year I will become a strategic advisor to OPI and will step down as CEO,” George said.
“The OPI brand is my baby, which I have loved and nurtured for many years, and will continue to do so. My retirement is filled with both pride and sadness, however it is time to move on to new adventures,” he said.
George will now focus on his passion for charity with The Schaeffer Family Foundation and other charities that support health-related issues and children’s education.
OPI was purchased by Coty 3 years ago. Coty has appointed Mary Van Praag as general manager of OPI – she will be replacing John Heffner in January as he leaves OPI.
Michele Scannavini will replace George as the new CEO.
