During April, Aveda’s 2010 Earth Month campaign will unite its network professionals and guests to raise US$3.5 million to protect clean water.
According to a 2008 UNICEF/WHO Report, one in seven people around the world do not have access to clean water.
Aveda Earth Month 2010 calls for strategic local and global action to protect local waterways, empower communities, and help make clean water accessible to everyone everywhere.
Aveda has celebrated Earth Day since its founding, and pioneered Earth Month in April 1999, which has since raised over US$14.2 million for environmental causes.

Light The Way Earth Month Candle – on sale April 1 to May 9.
By purchasing the lavender and soy wax candle, consumers can support Aveda’s global efforts to help make clean water accessible to all and help raise US$1.2 million if all candles are sold. Aveda will donate 100 per cent of proceeds2 from candle sales to its global Earth Month partner, Global Greengrants Fund.
Aveda Walk for Water – Sunday, April 18.
During the week of April 22, 2010, the Aveda Walk for Water campaign, which is executed locally by Aveda salons and spas, will unite the company’s network and guests in a series of walks around the world to raise awareness, funds, and excitement of the need to protect clean water. The walk extends six kilometres – the average distance that women in developing countries walk to collect water each day.
For the fourth consecutive year, Aveda is partnering with Global Greengrants Fund as its exclusive global Earth Month partner to provide grants for community-based water projects around the world. Global Greengrants Fund provides small grants to grassroots organizations working for clean water, clean air, sustainable livelihoods and healthy communities around the world. Aveda’s 2010 Earth Month projects will also support regional partners working to preserve clean water locally.
