Business development manager, Lynette Rouse and Gold Coast based importer/distributor Monique Lambert are the new team behind Mila D’Opiz in Australia. Kymberly Martin chatted to Lynette Rouse about reviving a business and her latest developments.
What is your role with Mila D’Opiz Lynette?
While Monique’s role is administration, when it comes to delivering education and training that is me! I have been in the industry 30 years working with dermatologists in Europe, UK and Asia in addition to being an industry educator in sales, marketing and training. I also ran my own spa many years ago.
When did you join Mila D’Opiz?
Two years ago to help the brand grow through each stage of its revival to arrive to where it is now.
What do you think makes a successful salon business?
I am sure you have heard it before but it is looking after your client. There are salons that are skilled in understanding the science of what a product can do. They know how to get the best result for their client because you cannot place everyone into the same category. Every client has different things going on in their lives and that stress extends to the skin. Relationship-building is a major component to be successful in this industry. Your clients will come back if they can see something is going to make a difference on their skin.
How important is training?
The company is a heavy hitter when it comes to training because supporting practitioners is an important part of continuing education in health sciences. But I do see gaps in education among therapists. Students arrive with their diploma status but more training has to be given to help them grow in their understanding of what they are working with, how the product delivers results and how to effectively express this information to clients.
Can you explain the science behind the Skin Whisperer?
The Skin Whisperer is a new anti-ageing complex from the Swiss laboratories of Mila D’Opiz. The global launch coincides with the brand’s 75th jubilee. The Skin Whisperer contains a plethora of active ingredients and the science of how these function at biological and cellular level are critical when explaining their effect on skin. As we age stem cells decrease in their ability to perform. The champion component in the cream is the marine-based DermCom complex that acts on cell-to-cell communication to rejuvenate the skin matrix and boost cell regrowth. It also claims to significantly improve collagen and elastin by reactivating 14 genes that contribute to collagen production and the formula contains four plant stem cells to reduce wrinkle depth.
Who can use the Skin Whisperer?
This hi-tech, anti-aging cream offers 24 hour care for all skin types, from 35+ who are showing early signs of ageing. It can be applied as a day or night cream and can also be used as an eye cream. Our products are sold in professional salons and a selected number of medical clinics.
Tell us a little about the company?
Company founder Mila Opitz manufactured and sold its first biological face cream in 1938. It was the first dermatological skincare line to be introduced in Europe and the first company to establish an aesthetic training school in Switzerland. It remains a family owned business.
