Companies lend a helping hand

A group of very generous Australian beauty companies have jumped on board to help those affected by the recent floods.

It’s amazing that in just over a week people from all over Australia have banded together to donate and offer help to flood victims in need.

Not only have we seen charity days and events held, we’ve also experienced companies generously donating much-needed funds and services. It’s fabulous to see that the people of the beauty industry are so compassionate. I have been overwhelmed with emails from various companies announcing how they’re doing their bit to help.

Here is an overview:

APAN
The Aesthetics Practitioners Advisory Network (APAN) will act as a conduit between those in need and those who can help salons in the devastating flood crisis regions.

“Salon and spa owners inundated with the flood waters are looking at how to rebuild their shattered businesses, Tina Viney CEO of APAN said, “and we believe we as an industry can help support them”.

APAN is asking individuals or companies who are able to help with providing anything in the way of shop fittings, furniture, stock and equipment to please contact APAN at flood@apanetwork.com and let them know what you have. Alternatively, please call or text 0420 332 343.

MIRENESSE
As a survivor of Cyclone Tracey in 1974, Irene Patsalides from Mirenesse understands only too well what the flood victims are going through.

Irene and her husband Andrew put together a fundraiser kit (valued at $75) which contained their award-winning Mirenesse Secret Weapon Mascara and Velvet Lip Lift Moisture Shine. They donated 1000 kits to the fund, which customers paid $10 each for. $10,000 from the sale of the kits was raised in just a few hours.

“We had a great response and are very happy to be able to do at least a little to help the cause,” said Irene.

SKINSTITUT
Skinstitut have numerous accounts in Rockhampton, Toowoomba, Brisbane and Goondawindi – all major flood-affected areas. Many of their accounts have lost everything. As a company, Skinstitut have shown their support by donating thousands of dollars to the Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal, and will continue to show support to the affected accounts where they can.

"We send our best wishes and hope to all those who have been affected in Queensland, Northern NSW and now rural Victoria", said Andrew Christie, Managing Director of Skinstitut.

L'OREAL AUSTRALIA
L'Oreal have allocated $100,000 to help flood victims in the most relevant way. They hope to help them get back on their feet and return to normal life as quickly as possible. Their Crisis Management team, headed by Chris Mejean, will together with the different area managers do his best to find out where the help is most needed and in what form.
