Beginning July 30 Sydney’s TAFE Sutherland College at Gymea will be offering a new course for those interested in doing makeup for TV and film.
The new Diploma of Specialist Makeup Services is an advanced makeup course which allows students to study makeup and hairstyling specific to the screen and media industry. The course includes units of study in makeup, hairstyling, wig styling, design, creative thinking, project management and work health and safety (WHS).
This course will take students through specific practical aspects tailored the TV and film industry such as makeup application and design, hairstyling for performance and productions, communication, special effects makeup and styling wigs for TV and theatre.
Working in film and TV, makeup artists are a part of a team contributing to the production as a whole, therefore the course will also help students develop skills in script interpretation, establishing and maintaining production requirements and participate in production planning/events.
