Jane Wurwand, founder of Dermalogica has been honoured by LA-based anti-trafficking organisation CAST.
As a 2014 Honoree, Jane was formally recognised for Dermalogica’s FITE association and their work in supporting the economic independence and empowerment of women worldwide. The Coalition to Abolish Slavery & Trafficking (CAST) is a LA-based non-government anti-trafficking organisation that provides services to those forced into slavery-like practices.
The award was presented at CAST’s From Slavery to Freedom Gala held at the Skirball Cultural Centre in Los Angeles. This year’s gala celebrated ‘Women Helping Women, Innovation and Impact’.
Jane and FITE were joined by other 2014 Honorees: Mayor Eric Garcetti and First Lady Amy Elaine Wakeland, Nena Ruiz (trafficking survivor and anti-slavery advocate) and Chime of Change (a foundation founded by Gucci).
Since the launch of FITE in 2011, the nonprofit initiative has helped start and grow more than 40,000 women-owned businesses around the world.
“I am so grateful for CAST, for their fearless work to end the tragedy of human trafficking,” said Jane. “Freedom and justice are essential human rights, and these are not women’s issues – they are global issues. We are proud to support and stand beside organizations like CAST that help people gain freedom and empowerment.”
