It’s a wrap! Cosmoprof Asia 2014 is officially over, and this year the hottest trend to rule the show was nail art.
With it’s colourful culture and 24/7 nightlife, Hong Kong is a hard place to stand out in.
But at this year’s Cosmoprof Asia, bright digits towering with 3D nail art got everyone’s attention.
There was no doubting it – the hottest beauty trend to come out of Asia this year is nail art. And it’s nail art like we’ve never seen before.
Think meticulously detailed three-dimensional artworks piled high on elongated nails and a more-is-more approach to colour and bling.
The nail dedicated arena of Cosmoprof Asia was jam-packed with nail art tools to get you in the spirit – from specialised tweezers and tongs for applying coloured gems and charms to nails to a variety of glues, gel powders and setting polishes for holding them in place.
With gel manicures remaining the hot choice, Taiwanese company Albatron Technology Co. LTD impressively introduced a new innovative LED nail lamp to assuage nail lovers’ concerns about exposure to traditional UV rays during curing.
Underscoring it all was a three-day extravaganza held at the Grand Hall main stage inside the Convention Centre in Hong Kong, entitled ‘International Nail Days’, highlighting leading trends from Japan and Korea, including nail art demonstrations by cult Korean nail artists Park Na Yeong and Kim Kyoung Ha.
And the final day of Cosmoprof Asia 2014 saw a spectacular fight for nail artistry glory at the Hong Kong Professional Nailist Union Competition, where hundreds of eager entrants frenetically completed their fancy fingerwork infront of a panel of judges and a ticking stopwatch.
Professional Beauty’s Nadia Stennett was so inspired by the creations, she decided to take a piece of Cosmoprof Asia nail art home with her.
Be sure to catch the Jan/Feb issue of Professional Beauty for the full rundown on all the show’s trends and latest releases.
Have your say: What do you think of Nadia’s blinged-up pink mani?
