Last Thursday morning, April 14, Neutrogena together with Platinum PR treated beauty editors and selected media to a delicious breakfast at Mezzaluna, Potts Points for an education session on the A-Z of Acne.
As beauty writers, we’re often asked to trial many treatments, products and new technologies. A fabulous as most of these treatments are, sometimes our skin is not too happy with us continuously using it as a testing canvas. This can unfortunately sometimes result in unwanted breakouts and congestion.
Over a scrumptious breakfast of muesli, fresh fruit and dainty pieces of toast with sweet marmalade, we listened to Dr John Sullivan, All About Acne co-chairman and dermatologist talk us through the A-Z of Acne – how it forms, how it can be prevented, and he divulged the truths and myths associated with acne.
85 percent of Australians aged 18-24 suffer from acne and 15 percent of adult women still suffer the confidence-diminishing condition. Dr Sullivan put adult acne down to hormones, family history, polycystic ovary syndrome, obesity, and of course stress.
We were then spoken to by Johnson & Johnson marketing manager Amanda Broderick. She explained Neutrogena’s place in the market and how it is the number one dermatologist-recommended brand when it comes to acne. The Neutrogena acne range has three platforms: the Oil Free range for everyday use, Acne Stress Control to prevent acne from arriving and the Rapid Clear treatment for fast results.
Dr. John Sullivan, Amy Sneddon, Sharon Dowling, Amanda Broderick, and Lauren McMahon.
After Amanda spoke, we were given a more scientific insight into how Neutrogena’s patented Microclear technology works by Sharon Dowling. Microclear disrupts the inflammatory cycle and has ingredients that address both causes and symptoms of acne. It also penetrates deep into the skin to target the inflamed and infected area.
After a good dose of education, all star pupils were given a goodie bag of Neutrogena products to take home.
