Skin

Beauty therapists and skincare lovers prepare to rejoice, because according to MBFW, this year is all about the skin. In fact, skincare products ruled the dressing rooms backstage even more so than makeup, with every makeup artist focussing on prepping the complexion to perfection for a glow that required minimal makeup.

There was an expertly executed balance achieved between matte and dewy skin, with beauty professionals using nourishing skincare oils and serums to achieve a flawless sheen. This year’s look in skin was all about a natural, healthy glow that appeared to come from within, imparting an almost angelic gleam.

Makeup

Brow. WOW. There’s no denying it, this year is certainly all about brow power, with the catwalks of MBFW filled with show-stoppingly full, natural-looking brows that demanded serious attention. Rather than the dramatic dark brows of the past, MBFW 2015 was all about naturally shaded, feathered brows with an ‘I just woke up like this’ feel.

Eyeliner was also a key trend, often pushing eyeshadow off the page altogether, with many models sporting pared back eyes rimmed with bold liner. Though there were pops of vibrant colour, the focus has definitely shifted from shading lids to lining eyes to create an effortlessly chic, dramatic eye with a classic feel, which were often pared with bold berry coloured lips. Matte stains were all the rage in lip products, with nudes, burgundy and tropical pops ruling the colour wheel.

Nails

Unlike some of the OTT nail looks of MBFW yesteryear, models sported surprisingly wearable clean, polished manis on the catwalks this year, with nudes and wine coloured hues again ruling. Geometric and negative space manicures were also popular, though maintained a simplistic, easy-to-achieve look, while short natural nails in an oval shape were the clear frontrunner in nail trends for MBFW 2015.

Tanning

Bronzed, gleaming limbs were popular on the runways this year, with a focus on tanned skin that had a sun kissed glimmer to it achieved by finishing models’ spray tans off with a dusting of illuminator. The buzz words in tanning this year were ‘bronzed’, ‘bedewed’ and ‘illuminated’ with a healthy looking lit-from-within glow dominating most of the shows.

Have your say: Were you at MBFW 2015? What do you think of this year’s hottest beauty trends?
