RAFW: OPI sparkles and shimmers

OPI’s creative collaborations continued at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week.

OPI for Dion Lee

Dion Lee’s show featured exquisite tailoring, daring symmetrical cut outs, beautiful designs with ink blot prints and sunray pleating in lilacs, turquoise, aquas, greys, creams and beige. Accessories included big crystal rings, drop gold earrings and chunky crystal necklaces, and nails polished off with OPI’s Pearls of Wisdom on hands and toes.

Fernando Frisoni’s galactic inspired show featured futurist and military styles using bold colours in red, pink, rich blues, black and white. Long tailored jackets were contrasted with soft floaty feminine shapes, modern vibrant prints, detailing such as ostrich feather, draped sheer dresses and see-through organza shorts. OPI’s Coney Island Cotton Candy gave nails an opaque pink look.

White Sands’ show also called for Coney Island Cotton Candy, to complement their edgy, contemporary swimwear. Colour themes were coral, peach, aqua, turquoise and dusty pink in cute prints, and ‘80s-inspired one-pieces with plunging necklines and frill detail, batik blue prints with sailor drawstring detailing, maxi dresses and black silk leisure dresses.

Annah Stretton’s new collection with a purpose was inspired by ‘60s sex goddess Brigitte Bardot and her later animal rights activism. A palette of nudes and pastels captured the innocence of animals while shirring and quilting accentuated their imprisonment. Even the big back-combed hair was accessorised with little hair-wrapped imprisoned animals – using fashion to comment on cruelty to animals.

OPI’s creamy brown nude, Dulce de Leche, tied in with the theme, complementing the playsuits in gun metal grey, dusty pink, turquoise, green, taupe and silver, corsets, see-through dresses and a bodysuit in black French lace. Dresses were accented with billowing shoulders and plunging draped necklines. There were playful twinsets, hooped skirts and dresses in red gingham print.
