Danne Monague-King, the founder of DMK Skincare, has launched a range of pain management products aimed for use in health and wellness centres (including medical and physiotherapy clinics, beauty salons and spas) as well at-home use.
Launched in Australia this week, the DMK DEEP FREEZE Cool Therapy range, which includes pain relief gel, a pain relief spray, a ‘Turbo Recovery’ body wash and a Hand & Feet Lotion, promises to provide two to four hours of pain relief for “chronic issues” like back pain, night sweats and hot flushes, arthritis, fibromyalgia and muscle soreness.
According to Montague-King, who is a also a botanical pharmacist, the range is unlike the run-of-the-mill cold therapy treatments found at the chemist as DEEP FREEZE does more “than provide just 30 to 60 minutes of temporary relief”.
“Cool therapy, also referred to as cryotherapy, is the practice of utilising cool sensation in the management of pain,” he said.
“This form of therapy has been used to decrease tenderness, inflammation, and nerve activity for years by means of ice, or cold packs… DEEP FREEZE however offers the same principles of traditional cold therapy, without the required downtime of traditional options; not to mention the additional benefits of two to four hours relief.
Montague-King also stressed that while DEEP FREEZE was created to treat muscle pain, it can also be used to reduce the appearance of cellulite by increasing skin elasticity and firming the connective tissue – or can be be combined with stone massage techniques to induce a deeper sensation of balance and fluidity.
