So the nail industry has come up with some pretty interesting designs over the years – gummy bear polish, pompom stick ons, LED light wire art – we’d thought we’d seen it all. That was until we heard about Pure Glamour salon.
This Gold Coast beauty clinic is using laser printing technology to apply customer’s Instagram shots to their nails – and that includes selfies.
“The machine prints directly onto your nails,” salon owner Laicey Jean told the Gold Coast Bulletin.
“You can take a selfie, send pictures from your phone using Wi-Fi or pick from one of the 4000 pre-made designs.”
“I’ve had quite a few girls come in with photos of their cats and dogs, or of their boyfriend,” she said. Judging from the salon’s social media feed, someone’s also come in with a photo of One Direction…
Pure Glamour is only one of a handful of salons in Australia with the technology for these novel manicures, and despite sounding highly-technical, the process is actually quite simple.
“I’ve only had this machine for less than a month but people are already loving it…It screen-prints perfectly to the shape of your nails then we seal it with LED gel and it lasts quite a few weeks,” Jean told the Gold Coast Bulletin.
Clientele from the other end of the town is now making appointments, with Ms. Jean predicting there might be more long distance customers.
“We’re getting people in from all over the place because we’re the only salon in Queensland that has this machine,” she said.
“I have had a few weird requests. Last night a woman asked for a picture of her eyeball on one nail to see whether her boyfriend would notice.”
Interested? “It’s $10 per nail for the pre-made designs and $16 for a selfie or picture.”
