The fourth annual Perth Nail Extravaganza, ‘a mini-expo for trade only’, is set to welcome around 100 nail technicians next month.
Organised by nail artist Pia Williams, the Extravaganza is hot on the heels of the Melbourne Nail Extravaganza which attracted 154 nail technicians on Sunday (April 29).
The Perth extravanganza will feature 11 exhibitors ‒ Brillbird, Cuccio Australia, Artistic Nail Design, Emendee, Prestige Salon, International Salon Supplies, Indigo Nails, The Nail Depot, Swarovski, Light Elegance and Eligirl Beauty.
Pia organised the first Perth Nail Extravaganza in 2014 as she “saw there was a gap in the local nail industry” for an event that nail technicians could “embrace and network”.
“For many years Perth nail techs missed out on these types of events unless they spent a lot of money to fly over east to attend the Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane beauty expos,” she says.
“I even sat back on the days of the beauty expos wishing that I could be there.”
She says the Perth Nail Extravaganza started as “a play date featuring a few companies and educators” in a bowling club.
Following its success, Pia knew it was “the start of something amazing” and began holding the event annually.
“Each year the venues then needed to keep getting bigger as it was growing with more companies wanting to come on board – and the addition of a nail completion (the West Coast Cup Nail Competition organised by Rebecca Manz and Caroline Morgan).”
Pia says “the growth and success of the Perth Nail Extravaganza has “seen other states in Australia follow suit” with their own extravaganzas “bringing our industry together with companies, distributors and nail technicians uniting as one”.
“To see this happen from Perth’s Nail Extravaganza has made the event worth every bit of hard work,” she says.
The first Melbourne Nail Extravaganza was held in Melbourne on Sunday April 22.
Organised by Vivid Nails director Viv Simmonds and Beauty World director Ray Daley, the one-day event hosted 14 exhibitors ‒ Young Nails, Switch Funky, Brillbird, Indigo, Lish, Fluid, Emmerson Crystals, Nail Perfect, Akzentz, Cuccio Nail Design, Emendee, Light Elegance, Vanilla Nail Art, Advanced Nail Art Supplies and Perfect Nails.
Viv says the extravaganza was a great success for exhibitors and visitors alike.
“Our feedback from everyone has been nothing but positive and wonderful with so many taking the time to thank us for putting on this event and expressing how much they enjoyed the day.”
The Perth Nail Extravaganza will be held at the Pagoda Resort & Spa on May 6.
