The Australasian Academy of Cosmetic Dermas Science (AACDS) is offering a new, nationally accredited advanced diploma which combines nursing and dermal therapy units.
The new Advanced Diploma of Cosmetic Dermal Science delivers both underpinning and specialised theory units supported by practical training in a quality learning environment of only two students per trainer.
The curriculum covers dermal science theory and practical encompassing IPL, microdermabrasion, superficial chemical peeling, skin needling and photo dynamic therapy.
Other units focus on the role of the dermal therapist and enrolled nurse in a cosmetic medical practice and other health related settings.
“Our curriculum…increases a graduates employability skills within a cosmetic medical practice and provides a further learning pathway into nursing,” stated AACDS principal April Jorgensen.
Dr. Sharon Phillipson, president of the Australasian Society of Cosmetic Medicine states, “This new course is highly beneficial to the cosmetic medical practice. A beauty therapy qualification simply does not provide competencies relevant to the cosmetic medical arena.”
