The Diploma of Beauty Therapy now offers five spa treatments as elective units within its competency range for the SIB10 Beauty Training Package.
The units are:
• Work in a spa therapies framework
• Plan spa programs
• Provide spa therapies
• Provide Indian head massage
• Provide stone therapy massage
“The bringing together of traditional beauty therapies with spa treatments will broaden the skills base that salons can provide to their clients,” says Michelle Lowe, director of Allowe Training Resources.
The five spa units will provide students with comprehensive knowledge, which will enable them to seek work locally and internationally, therefore expanding opportunities within the industry.
Michelle further explained, “Stone therapy massage is gaining popularity with its combination of warmth and even pressure throughout the treatment. Massage with stones is appealing to therapists as the stones provide pressure without straining their hand muscles.”
She also believes that training colleges who include stone therapy massage in their Diploma of Beauty Therapy course are delivering modern, up-to-date training to their students.
Allowe Training Resources provides teacher training and training resources to support training organisations in their delivery of competent education for the beauty and spa industries.
