This is a dual wavelength device, meaning Fitzpatricks types 3 and above, as well as those with fairer hair, can still achieve excellent results. “The 755 Alexandrite wavelength [allows for] a high absorption into melanin and is safe to utilise on darker skin types with the 1064nm wavelength,” Vera says.

“The 1064nm has a deeper penetration, and by using a smaller spot size (8-10) you can bulk heat the deep dermis by painting over the skin on a high repetition rate to approximately 40-43 degrees. This causes denaturation of the proteins that are not supporting the dermis and stimulates fresh collagen type 1 and other ingredients to create a stronger, more hydrated, fresher skin,” Kirsten says.
