Makeup artists were spoilt for choice at this year’s Afterpay Australian Fashion Week (AAFW). Here are some of the key beauty trends to note, and the salon-stocked beauty products you can use to get the look.
SKIN
It was all about the health of the skin this AAFW, with skincare brands quick to lend a hand in getting models’ skin into top shape backstage.
Models forwent any sign of makeup at Maggie Marilyn, donning little more than skincare supplied by New Zealand brand, Emma Lewisham.
For the second year in a row, Australian cosmeceutical brand Synergie Skin was chosen as the partnering skincare brand for three homegrown labels.
Models at Bondi Born, Karla Spetic and Albus Lumen took to the runway sporting clear complexions thanks to carefully curated products from the Synergie Skin range.
Terri Vinson-Jones, founder of Synergie Skin revealed to PB’s Hannah Gay the exact Synergie Skin products used: DermaCalm, LumiBalance, ReClaim, and Dermiotic. This cocktail of active ingredients worked to provide an effervescent glow to models’ skin.

MAKEUP
We love a no-makeup makeup look here at Professional Beauty. We saw All Shades Matter take to the AAFW runway for the first time, working the bases of models at Erik Yvon.
With Beauty Director Isabella Schimid on hand, models at Aje sported a barely-there base courtesy of Elizabeth Arden.
And over at Anna Quan, Make Up For Ever was used to give off glowy skin vibes for days.

NAILS
Australian newcomer PAX Polish provided fresh pearl manicures to the models at Albus Lumen, and a sheer taupe hue at Mariam Seddiq.
Silver rhinestones donned models’ tips at Bec + Bridge, designed to compliment the brand’s distinctive Y2K-inspired presentation.
While over at Michael Lo Sordo, it was all about the modernised French tip, courtesy of OPI. “I wanted to take inspiration from the colour Michael used in his newest collection and apply them to the nails,” said Mikele Simone, OPI Nail Director and Make Up Artist.
“I used the traditional technique of the ‘French Tip’ but modernised it by also adding a reverse French near the cuticle. This allowed me to incorporate multiple shades without it looking too busy but still elegant, modern and expensive.”

WELLNESS
JS Health was spotted backstage at Albus Lumen, energising models and talent with vitamin-infused juices.
While Byron Bay-born wellness brand Imbibe partnered with St. Agni, delivering both topical and ingestible solutions made to achieve an inner-outer glow to the skin.
