Cosmetex 2012 is taking place in Cairns in May. It’s a 3-day conference covering cosmetic surgery and medicine. Professional Beauty caught up with Dr John Flynn, spokesperson for Cosmetex 2012 and member of the organising committee.
PB: How many years has Cosmetex been running?
JF: Cosmetex is the new name of the annual conference ACCS. This title has been in use since 2010 but the history of ACCS conferences goes back to 1999. The name Cosmetex reflects the progressive nature of cosmetic medical practice and the fact that this conference maintains cutting edge in the forefront of new technology and new developments.
PB: How relevant do you think Cosmetex is to industry professionals?
JF: Cosmetex is the largest cosmetic surgery meeting in the Southern hemisphere and has won international recognition as a top level meeting. Cosmetex maintains its place at the forefront of medical education and as a showcase for new developments.
PB: How many visitors are you expecting over the three-day event?
JF: Cosmetex usually attracts 600 – 800 attendees.
PB: How many Cosmetic Doctors and Cosmetic Surgeons will be speaking?

PB: What are likely to be the highlights of Cosmetex 2012?
JF: Our top flight international guest speakers Dr. Cory Maas and Dr. Daniel Russo, a special preconference workshop on regulatory affairs and issues impacting on patient protection and safety.
PB: How can attendance at the event make a difference to visitors’ professional skill in cosmetic surgery?
JF: Cosmetex offers the best opportunity to refine one’s skills and learn of new developments and treatment protocols. It is a great opportunity to network with other professionals and compare techniques and results.
