A recent survey by the Cosmetics Physician Society of Australasia (CPSA) has found that 1 in 3 Australians have considered undergoing non-surgical aesthetic procedures.
Out of the 1 in 3 who have considered aesthetic procedures, more than 60% revealed that these procedures are a part of their normal grooming and personal care routine. The most popular treatments include microdermabrasion, laser or IPL hair removal, chemical peels and anti-wrinkle injections.
75% believed that it was normal to have non-surgical aesthetic treatments to address premature ageing.
The CPSA believe that due to advancing technology and the efficacy of non-surgical treatments, there has been a growing acceptance of aesthetic medicine in Australia over the recent years. Aesthetic procedures have also become less invasive and more cost effective – contributing to the growing popularity of such treatments.
“Patients can now expect greater results with relatively little social or work downtime, which means they can return to everyday life very soon after the procedure,” said Dr Catherine Porter, spokesperson for the CPSA.
“Aesthetic procedures have certainly become socially acceptable and financially accessible, and many people who undergo these procedures are now more open about what they have had done,” she added.
