Set to impact this year’s beauty trends, Pantone has named the colour of the year for 2015. And we concur.
Pantone’s Colour of the Year has been announced, and it’s one we’ve all gazed at lovingly through a long-stemmed glass at the end of a hard day at work.
The winning colour, an earthy red wine shade, is called Marsala, and Pantone are declaring it will dominate beauty, fashion and interior trends for the year ahead.
“Marsala is a subtly seductive shade, one that draws us in to its embracing warmth,” says Pantone Color Institute executive director, Leatrice Eiseman.
“Sensual and bold, delicious Marsala is a daringly inviting tone that nurtures; exuding confidence.”
Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, the earthy hue is said to embody the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness.
Professed to flatter many skin tones, Pantone says the sultry and subtle Marsala will be a great go-to colour in beauty this year, providing highlight for the cheek, and a captivating pop of color for nails, lips and hair.
“This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors,” emphasises Eiseman.
And whether you’re a fan of the shade or not, one thing’s for sure – it’s certain to make an appearance in this year’s professional makeup and nail colour launches.
Have your say: What do you think of Pantone’s Colour of the Year, Marsala? Love it or hate it?
