There was an all or nothing approach to hands and toes at this years’ Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Sydney, according to Faby Nails.
The nail company partnered with eight fashion labels – Sass & Bide, Roopa, Hansel & Gretel, Bec & Bridge, Michael Lo Sordo, Ginger & Smart, We are Kindred and Anna Quinn – during the six-day fashion extravaganza.
Faby’s colour stylist and educational trainer, Karon McKendrick Taylor said, “Most fashion stylists chose “dark and dramatic shades or solid opaque nudes”.
“Bold reds, midnight blue, black, bold reds and vibrant corals were the dramatic tones,” she said.
“The nudes were not your normal sheer nudes… stylists chose opaque nudes with more depth, or extra layering was placed on sheer nudes to give nails a healthier more vibrant look.”
For example, during the Sass & Bide show “black and white polishes were chosen for the hands and feet” to contrast with the bold colours and textures of the collection.
“The models wore ‘Moon Skin’ (a sheer off-white nude that offers a hint of shimmer and movement) on her hands and ‘Black is Black’ on her toes in contrast to the sassy tasselled shoes,” says McKendrick Taylor.
At the Bec & Bridge show, three coats of ‘Dusting Sugar’ (a sheer nude with a shimmery after-tone) was applied to the hands and ‘100% Cashmere’ (a neutral opaque nude that offers more depth) was applied on the toes.
“Bec & Bridge have texture, colour and frills so Faby kept it simple, says McKendrick Taylor.
“The sheer shade (‘Dusting Sugar’) gives the nail that clean crisp finish to this relaxed look and complements the diverse collection from the fitted blazers to pokadot dresses, leather pants and lace tops.
“The ‘100% Cashmere’ for the toes, to hide any imperfections, this opaque solid nude works with any outfit you throw at it.”
