Jax Wax Australia is in the running to win a major award at the 2018 Packaging & Processing Innovation and Design Awards (PIDA) next month.
The company’s new pre-printed recyclable packaging for its beaded depilatory wax has been named a finalist in the Health, Beauty and Wellness Category in the national competition.
Jax Wax director Tina Copland says it “is a great honour” to have the company’s “hard work recognised outside of the beauty industry”.
“Developing this new packaging has taken us a great deal of time and research making sure that it fits in with the philosophy of our company and showcases not only the product but the beautiful Australian flora as well.
“[The award nomination] is a credit to everyone involved.”
The company’s new 500g packaging for its beaded depilatory wax was developed to overcome problems with its previous one kilogram clear plastic bag packaging.
According to Tina, the bags could not stand upright, were difficult to open and pour, which caused the wax to clump when compressed – and were “visually boring”.
She says the new packaging is unlike any other depilatory wax packaging on the market due to its “unique see-through window on a dark grey bag”.
“The new packaging is self-standing and is able to be torn open without the use of scissors,”she says.
“In additon the smaller pack size has resulted in less product clumping and enables therapists to pour the product with one hand.”
The 2018 Design Innovation of the Year Award (Health, Beauty & Wellness) recognises organisations that have designed innovative packaging and processing materials, packaging and machinery/equipment within the cosmetics, toiletries, personal hygiene, supplements, vitamins, perfumes, hair body and oral care market.
The other finalists in the category are Anumi Skincare, Health Brands Trust and West Wadding.
The award winner will be announced at the World Star Packaging Awards in Surfers Paradise on May 2.
