Beginning September 3, MAC makeup artists led by James Molloy and Amber D will be unleashing their creativity at the NZ Fashion Week Autumn Winter Collections.
New Zealand Fashion Week will be kicking off the duo’s fashion week season before they set off to Milan, London, Paris and Tokyo Fashion Weeks.
Both artists will be arriving in New Zealand early to brief with designers and prepare for the shows they are directing. James and Amber will be directing 4 shows each, creating looks for 8 of the 13 MAC shows at NZ Fashion Week this year.
James will be directing COOP by Trelise Cooper, Hailwood, Nyne and Stolen Girlfriends Club.
“I’ve heard a lot about the New Zealand sense of style and I got a taste for it on a visit a few months ago, I could definitely feel the strong fashion undercurrent during my visit,” James said.
“I’m excited to be backstage this season directing and working alongside the super talented MAC New Zealand team as well as the local designers who are showing this season, it’ll be great to see what NZ Fashion Week has in store for us and to sample some of the signature NZ take on fashion,” James added.
Amber D will be directing Zambesi, twentyseven names, Salasai and Trelise Cooper. Amber expressed equal excitement on directing at NZ Fashion Week: “I’m so excited to be coming back to New Zealand for Fashion Week! We always lead the way in trend and I can’t wait to get cooking on some amazing makeup creations with the amazingly talented MAC NZ team!”
MAC will also be backstage at the following shows: Lela Jacobs, Company of Strangers, Underground Fashion Installation, Frantisek (Contemporary Salon) and Daniel K (Contemporary Salon).
Celebrity nail stylist Leah Light will be joining the MAC team backstage, designing nails for the runway. Leah will be using MAC products such as MAC Nail Lacquers, MAC Pigments and MAC Glitters for her creations.
Leah is looking forward to working with MAC: “working at New Zealand Fashion Week is always lots of fun, and this year is proving to be the best yet. It is a total honour to be asked to collaborate with prestigious makeup brand MAC. Just wait to see the magic we create together!”
