The Issada Cosmetics creative team recently paid homage to the 1960s for the 50th birthday celebration of hair empire Toni & Guy.

In celebration of Toni & Guy’s beginnings, in 1960s London, Toni & Guy Bulimba threw a VIP birthday soiree, attended by Brisbane’s fashion elite, featuring models who circulated the room sporting sixties inspired hair and makeup, created by Issada.
Issada was chosen as makeup sponsor for the 50th anniversary celebration by Toni&Guy’s Kevin Hobbs, and marks the latest in a long line of collaborations between the two brands: “I knew Issada could create the look we were going for – and we knew from previous experience the makeup would stay looking flawless all night, because the pigments are so long-lasting.”

Issada’s national brand manager, Catherine Mills, said the look was inspired by 1960’s British icons like Twiggy and Marianne Faithfull: “The Issada creative team created heavily defined black sockets with our Mineral 2 Baked Shadow in 2 Bad, feline eyeliner flicks with our Onyx Gel Liner and plenty of classic sixties white eyeliner and shadow. We then applied Va Voom, a heavy doll-like strip lash to complete the dramatic, doe-eyed look.

“Sunkissed Mineral Bronzer, Pressed Mineral Blush in Lychee and Luminiser Stick in Luminised were used to contour and highlight cheeks and sculpt face shape, while lips were either a matte nude using Issada’s Mineral Lip Crayon in Nudie Rudie, or a matte, pastel sixties-style pink with our new Mineral Lip Crayon shade, Pixie,” said Catherine.
Kevin said the look was a worthy tribute to Toni&Guy’s brand history but also very current and on trend given the recent resurgence towards 1960s fashion: “We’ve seen the sixties aesthetic enjoy a comeback at the recent Paris, London and New York fashion weeks, at shows like Louis Vuitton and Rag & Bone – but also in the pop culture world, with artists like Lana Del Rey and Adele championing the sixties look as their signature.”
