Smashbox’s global makeup artist, Lori Taylor Davis, was in Sydney last week to introduce the media to some upcoming launches and discuss some of the latest makeup trends she’s been creating on her celebrity and high profile clientele. Some clients she's enjoyed working with include Sandra Bullock, Carrie Washington and Richard Geer.
The key product Lori wanted to discuss and demonstrate is CC cream, to be launched in Australia in May. The CC cream is a colour correcting cream which can be worn alone or as a primer. As with the brand’s BB cream, it is available in five shades.
Lori applied the CC cream to her model using a Pod. She then discussed how important sculpted brows are in defining a face. The look she demonstrated was smokey eyes, using cream shadows, and a bright lip, “I love that colour on colour is a growing trend. Bright lips, rather than nude, are now being teemed with smokey eyes,” she said.
“Women in recent years have forgone blush and opted for a natural or contoured look, but I’m excited that coloured blush and lips are back in fashion. Saturated or a wash of colour on lips paired with a wash of colour on the eyes is a look I’m loving right now. Bright colours can be applied with a stained or muted look.
“Some of the colour combos I’ve done in studio have included pistachio teemed with electric blue and coral with cherry red.”
Lori recommends Smashbox’s Duo colour Hydrating Balm for lips before applying lipstick. While, the Halo Brush as her favourite tool for creating contour.
