Five of Australia’s best makeup artists were recognised for their outstanding talent at this year’s Face2Face Makeup Awards in Sydney on the weekend.
The competition, which attracted 72 entrants from around the country, aims to reward extraordinary makeup artists for “their craft, creativity and passion” – and give them the opportunity to display their talent “in front of thousands of beauty professionals and industry heavyweights”.
Becca Gilmartin, the awards’ creative director, said this year’s competition had been amazing.
“I think the awards represent an even playing field for everyone – whether they’re an amateur, a student, or a professional,” she said.
“It’s all about the competition on the day.
“There’s no other competition that I know of that puts the artist under this sort of pressure to create something that they wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to do… It’s a really good activity to be involved in to push yourself.”
Isabelle De Vries, the winner of the Beauty Editorial and Fashion Catwalk categories, and runner-up in the Bridal category, will have her collection published in LAUD magazine.
“The editorial award came as a massive shock,” she said.
“I was the runner-up last year, so to win just means so much to me.
“Editorial and runway makeup are my loves. I’m so passionate about them and to receive feedback from such an incredibly talented judging panel, who were all so supportive, made the win that much more special.
“I enjoyed participating in the awards and I’ll definitely be entering again next year.”
