Orly nails starred in three shows at RAFW last week: Karla Spetic, Swim Fashion and TAFE NSW.

Spetic commented on the collaboration with her show, saying: "It wasn't a difficult choice to ask ORLY to come on board. They have such great creative ideas and capabilities, which suited this brief especially.”
Spetic said her creative concept was loosely based around the idea of a barren and intensely picturesque setting: artistic, yet harsh, creative, but simple. “Polka dots have been added as I've always felt they had a fun, playful and quirky feel about them, and although this collection isn't entirely fitting of that description, I like the idea of juxtaposing two opposing sentiments and wanted the overall look to reflect this.”
According to Orly’s RAFW Creative Director, Fiona Hay, creating Spetic’s vision required subtle, simple detail.
“After shaping the nails into a short, soft square shape, we chose a base colour from the collection, and painted the models’ nails with this. We then embellished the nails with tiny white polka dots, which tied in with Karla’s SS10/11 collection. The nail look was very chic and girly! It’s a really cool look for Spring-Summer, because while it taps into nail art territory, it’s subtle, modern and fun – very on trend.”
Orly’s collection of punchy bright nail lacquers which bottle the beachy Spring-Summer 10/11 mood, were a perfect fit for the Swim group show. Hay said Orly painted electric hues on the models for designer Lisa Blue to, “complement the fun, colourful prints and overall vibe of the show. Orly’s Tiki Time collection in Sol Cabana and Hot Stuff lacquer in Blue Collar stood out on the runway.”
For the other six Swim designers, Orly created a natural, clean nail look to complement the designers’ creative visions. The collections were: Agua Bendita, Karen Neilsen Collection, Lisa Maree, Blackbox, Roopa Pemmaraju and Rebecca Manning Swim.
“We created a neutral nail look that was versatile and suited the varied looks and colours of the collections. Orly French Manicure in Sweet Blush is a beautiful neutral pink that complements each of the designer’s collections,” Hay said.
A natural, clean nail look was also the order for Orly’s collaboration with four designers in the TAFE NSW ‘The Innovators’ group show: Nicholas Christensen, Christopher Dobosz, Elliot Ward – Fear and Caroline Fuss. Once again, French Manicure in Sweet Blush was used.
