A world-wide 'Glam Slam' partnership has been announced between OPI and Serena Williams.
Recognised as the number-one tennis player in the world, Serena Williams is entering the beauty business with the launch of her own exclusive collection of lacquers designed by OPI to be released world-wide on January 13, 2011 for the Australian Tennis Open.
Training to become a nail technician and a self-confessed lover of OPI, Serena Williams recently announced her desire to open her own chain of nail salons in America.
“Everyone knows that I’ve always loved fashion and design, but they might not know that I’m manic about my nails, and that’s why I’m super excited to partner with OPI to create my ‘Glam Slam Collection by OPI’ and on top of that, I am well on my way to receiving my nail technician license. Working with OPI is really a dream come true," states Williams.
Beginning with the Australian Open, the first of four shades to be released will be Simply Smashing; a glowing green colour, paired with a revolutionary new product, OPI’s Shatter Black top coat, which when applied to dry lacquer, the top coat begins to shatter and disappear, leaving behind a cracked, leopard print pattern.
The Serena Williams 'Glam Slam Collection by OPI' features four shades, each designed exclusively for the four world Tennis Open Tournaments Serena is scheduled to compete in for 2011. The launch of each lacquer shade is to launch in conjunction with each tournament, starting with the Australian Open this month, followed by the French Open in May; Wimbledon in June; and the US Open in August.
