The Napoleon Perdis Makeup Artistry Squad was out in full-force last week making up “over 200 faces” for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia and the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Weekend Edition in Sydney.
The squad, made up of 42 makeup artists, created the looks for Swim showcase, St.George Next Gen, Active showcase, Leo & Lin, Akira, Camilla (weekend edition) and Runway shows (weekend edition).
Company founder and CEO Napoleon Perdis says the company (which was a sponsor at the first MBFW Australia in 1996 and was the official makeup partner at this year’s event) is proud of the squads success at this year’s event.
Although there were many spectacular moments on the catwalk, Napoleon says the highlight of the week for him “was being able to give our up and coming makeup artists the chance to work with our seasoned global makeup artistry squad, and bring these looks, tips and tricks back into the store and straight to the consumer”.
“It gives us a voice of authority in the industry as we are creating trends and leading the makeup charge.”
He readily acknowledges there were however some ‘lowlights’ backstage.
“ The most stressful moments were when we had ‘runners’ (models running from one show to the next) turning up much later than anticipated,” he explains.
“Not only were some models running from other shows at Carriageworks, but some were coming from offsite shows too!
“We needed to be on our game and ensure we were able to keep the look consistent across those we had hours to make-up and those we had minutes with!”
