As daring and controversial as the collection, CND teamed-up with The Blonds this year to create 36 nail designs that pay tribute to famous blondes in culture and history.
“The Original Blonde” was theme to The Blonds Spring/Summer show this year – an ode to historical blonde icons set in space, the clothing and nails referenced infamous blondes in art, animation and pop culture. Some of the most stand-out designs were influenced by Tweety Bird, Marilyn Monroe and the Bionic Woman.
An abundance of feather, sequence and metallic fabrics were presented in a party of the rainbow.

“This season in New York, we decided to partner exclusively with The Blonds. We have been working with them since their inception in 2008 and they are the ultimate artists of fashion week,” said Jan Arnold, CND co-founder.
“The Blonds’ creative inspiration this year very much fell in line with our ‘Paradise’ trend prediction, which portrays woman as an exotic bird with bright, bold nails as her ultimate accessory.”
Embodying their ongoing partnership with The Blonds, CND’s hand-crafted masterpieces were inspired by the avant-garde and other-worldly explorations in a realm of fantasy. The mails explored the paradox of strong animation set against a backdrop of iridescent neon yellow, chrome metallics and holographic teals on reptilian armour-like textures and protective spiked shapes.
“The Blonds allow us creative freedom like no one else,” Jan said, “the creative process is truly collaborative and the end product is pure theatrical inspiration.”
The Blonds designers Phillipe and David Blond are extremely fond of CND’s artistry and ability to create out-of-the-box designs. “There is no other company who could understand our creative vision and interpret it the way that they do,” they said.
“CND sets trends…they are more than just nails – they are about art and that is what makes them the perfect partner for us.”
