CND designed 23 unique looks inspired by comic book villains for The Blonds Fall Winter 2014 show in New York on February 12.
The Blond girl this season lives after the motto ‘good girl gone bad’. She can differentiate between right and wrong but refuses to abide by convention – choosing to err on the dark side. The collection, in accordance with the usual display of drama at The Blonds shows, was a plethora of leather, glitter, jewelled embellishments and graphic prints. Inspired by classic comic book villains such as Cat Woman, Poison Ivy and The Joker, the clothing brought these characters and their mischievous ways to life.
“Building upon this artistic foundation, our team created looks for The Blonds that tie in beautifully with our ‘Modern Folklore’ trend prediction for Fall 2014, lush with embellished, bespoke and handmade craftsmanship. We don’t paint nails backstage at Fashion Week – we transform them into mini-masterpieces,” said CND co-founder Jan Arnold.
The handmade masterpieces for the show were sharp, strong, bold and intricate with extreme and pointed shapes. The nails were crafted using Retention Liquid & Powder and Brisa Gel. Colours applied were from the CND Shellac and Vinylux ranges – topped with an array of vintage jewels, crystals, chains, pearl, leather, glitter, foil and velvet.
“CND continues to amaze us with nails that raise the bar each season,” said The Blonds designers Phillipe and David Blond. “Each of our models walked down the runway showcasing two incredible looks – one on her body and one on her nails. You don’t see that at any other shows!”
