Parmia, a popular insurance broker for the beauty industry is set for rapid national expansion.
Specialising in providing Australian associations and membership-based groups with tailored insurance and risk management services, Parmia is now ready for rapid expansion with director Danny Gumm taking a left-of-field approach to insurance broking by targeting untapped niche markets.
As the Australian Insurance Award Finalist for the past 2 years, Parmia also recently won the Queenland Young Professional Broker of the Year and Queensland Broker of the Year and the National Insurance Broker Association’s state awards.
“I established Parmia because I was concerned about seeing professional associations and their members left unprotected or at significant risk from inadequate ‘off-the-shelf’ insurance policies,” Danny Gumm said. “There wasn’t really anyone looking at each professional industry’s unique exposures and needs.”
The firm, established in 2002, currently looks after 15 associations and their members. Parmia covers a wide range of industries: beauty, health, graphic design, IT, education and business development. Working together with clients, Parmia’s core point of difference is their willingness to listen and understand the industry and members’ needs.
“Every industry we assist has its own unique risks that have to be addressed, so taking a blanket approach to every client is just not feasible,” Danny said.
“We treat it as priority to always meet face-to-face with each association on a pre-agreed basis to maintain and implement an ever evolving detailed and tailored risk management and insurance policy.”
An example of this is the firm’s solution afforded to the beauty industry for high end procedures when no other cover was available. Parmia is also one of the only risk management and insurance options available to the tattoo industry.
With the firm steadily growing, Danny plans to pinpoint the allied medical and alternative health industries as key areas of growth.
“There is a real synergy between these 2 industries and the ever expanding beauty industry that we can really take advantage of,” he said.
