Sephora’s first Queensland store opens at Gold Coast’s Pacific Fair Shopping Centre with thousands of beauty enthusiasts lining up for a slice of the action.
Over a thousand beauty devotees showed up bright and early this morning in anticipation of the opening of the Sunshine state’s first Sephora store. Located in the newly renovated Pacific Fair Shopping Centre on the Gold Coast’s Broadbeach, the excited crowd was entertained with a DJ before being allowed inside at precisely midday today (Friday, 14 July).
The opening marks the beauty emporium’s first foray into the Queensland market, where, judging by the hordes of beauty buffs queued outside the store this morning, demand for fun and interactive beauty is high. And why not when this beauty emporium is offering up over a hundred beauty brands, complimentary beauty services, special offers, and a whole lot of opening day beauty fanfare.
This is Sephora’s fourth Australian store since its first store opening in Sydney’s Pitt St Mall during December 2014. The beauty giant, owned by LVMH, also has stores in Sydney’s Macquarie Centre and Melbourne Central, contributing to its impressive list of more than 2500 stores worldwide.
“We are overwhelmed with the turnout today from our Queensland beauties,” says Country Manager of Sephora Australia, Libby Amelia at the launch today. “We had over 1000 consumer’s queuing ahead of the doors opening, a live DJ set from 8am and we’re thrilled to see the attention and effort the lovely ladies and gents went to in creating some incredible gold looks from head to toe. We thrilled to be a part of the Pacific Fair family.”
“It is a very exciting time for Sephora Australia,” adds Amelia. “After such great success with our first three stores, there has been much anticipation and demand for Sephora from beauty lovers across the nation. There has been high-demand by Gold Coast consumers for some time and we are so excited to finally share this journey with them as the global beauty authority.”
What makes this beauty emporium so unique is its modus operandi which does away with the department store’s concept of the look-don’t-touch beauty counter concept of the beauty floor and actively encourages customers to enjoying swatching up their hands and experimenting with product first hand – no questions asked.
“The store experience at Sephora is unrivaled,” says Amelia. “We operate a self-service model, where the customer is encouraged to play, try and explore on their own! Alternatively beauty advisers are always available for customers seeking information, service and expertise.”
The new Pacific Fair store is part of a $670 million redevelopment of the Gold Coast centre that commenced in January 2014. The 445sqm store will incorporate some additional fixtures including a new beauty studio, to support Sephora’s complimentary and paid services.
“We are delighted to announce that Sephora will be joining the enviable range of retailers to open at Pacific Fair in 2016,” says Pacific Fair General Manager, Brett Clarke. “Pacific Fair has… become one of the largest retail and entertainment destinations in Australia, and the largest shopping centre in Queensland. We know that the introduction of a global beauty mega-brand such as Sephora will generate much excitement amongst our shoppers, and we are thrilled that they have chosen Pacific Fair as the location for their first store in Queensland.”
