This week, newly developed skincare brand BIOJUVE launched in Australia under the distribution of Advanced Skin Technology (AST).
BIOJUVE is manufactured by Crown Laboratories. Crown is also the manufacturer of professional needling device, SkinPen.
The brand first launched in The United States earlier this year, with Australia being only the second country in the world to distribute the range. “[BIOJUVE’s development and Australian launch] has been ten years in the making,” AST Managing Director Heather Harrison said.
BIOJUVE was designed with attention to skin microbiome and uses patented Xycrobe technology in a global first. The brand has reportedly been endorsed by internationally recognised board-certified dermatologists with its launch serving as a major milestone in the development of bio-conscious skincare.
Xycrobe is said to deliver proteins, polypeptides and antioxidants referred to as Bioessentials to the skin. Skin conditions are therefore treated using “an isolated, living strain of skin-relevant bacteria,” a press release on the launch states.
Dr Thomas M. Hitchcock, Chief Science Officer at Crown Laboratories, Inc. said the philosophy behind the brand is “that human skin is an ecosystem and should be cared for as such.” He argues that taking an holistic approach to caring for the skin biome “goes beyond traditional skincare.”
Earlier this month, Professional Beauty joined AST alongside select stockists and aestheticians in celebrating the launch of BIOJUVE. At the event, Dr Hitchcock explained that while we live in the modern world, “we have pre-modern skin.”
He spoke on Cutibacterium acnes (C. acnes), which he noted to be an essential skin microbiota also found in 90 per cent of hair follicles. Despite an industry-wide lean into probiotic use skincare, Dr Hitchcock reminded aestheticians that grouping probiotics and microbes is not enough.
The BIOJUVE range consists of the following steps:
- Conditioning Cleanse
- Biome Support Complex
- Living Biome Essentials Serum, used with Activating Mist
- Hydrating Barrier Cream (available in Normal to Dry and Normal to Oily).
On Crown’s choice of distributor, Dr Hitchcock said it’s because “AST has an appetite for change” that aligns with that of BIOJUVE.
