The original trial blazer of paramedical skin revision, Danné Montague-King has launched a cosmetics line designed to “rebuild and regenerate the skin at cellular level", with supreme functionality which has sent leading international makeup artists into a spin.
Danné addressed beauty editors, at a recent launch in Sydney, with the announcement that this product is “completely out of the box.” Many years in the making, Danné has applied his unforgiving, scientific eyes to the creation of the outstanding new range. With the assistance of long-time colleague Tommy Parsons, a makeup artist with a scienctific background, the pair have created a stand-out collection.
The challenge began for DMK when they set about trying to create a range that wasn’t laced with numerous mineral oils and didn’t need matting down as soon as it was applied.
“We wanted something that acted like a cream, that wasn’t a cream, that would cover everything but wouldn’t interfere with anything either!” explained Danné. “It is exceedingly difficult to find cosmetic products that aren’t harmful or damaging to the skin or that work against skin revision theory and practice. This line of reasoning prompted me to consider developing my own range of cosmetics.”
DMK Cosmetics, are in the true spirit of the brand, suitable for all those who suffer from dermatological conditions, work in front of the camera or are simply seeking superior makeup coverage on an everyday basis. Formulated with high-quality ingredients and no oils, the silicone-based foundation delivers a beautiful, smooth finish and perfect day-long coverage without the need to touch-up or mat-down.
Crème Glacé prepares the skin for foundation application by providing an occlusive underlying layer which covers the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and helps ensure a flawless finish and longevity. The comprehensive collection covers the entire Fitzpatrick Scale and shades can be blended to suit, if a client has a tan or fake tan or wants to contour and highlight with foundation alone. The range of Correctors also help neutralise redness or lift sallow skins, if required.
The secret to the efficacy of the foundations is mainly due to the high pigmentation factor of up to 53 per cent and the inclusion of Biocence – a trade-marked organic compound that prevents the growth of microorganisms on contact. Tommy Parsons recently received a call from a makeup artist working on actor Will Smith on set in 45 degree heat in the middle of Palm Springs who shouted down the phone: “This range is amazing! I thought I would give it a try on the off-chance and I haven’t had to touch Will’s makeup once, whereas we applied various other cosmetics to the other actors and I have been running backwards and forwards fixing up their makeup all day!”
The hi-definition camera is renowned for showing every minute imperfection and as Danné commented, a number of leading male actors are now refusing to wear makeup on set because the hi-def cameras pick up the fact that they are wearing makeup, no matter how flawlessly it has been applied.
The unforgiving nature of the hi-definition cameras has created an even greater need for flawless finishes and fantastic formulations and working with this in mind DMK set about creating a line to meet these expectations:
“Some years ago I created Biofreeze, the top selling cryotherapy analgesic for pain. As a scientist I am always grateful that God gave me one Biofreeze in my life. Many years later, at the age of 67 when I should probably be looking down the road to retirement I am proud to say this is my second Biofreeze. What we have achieved with DMK cosmetics has re-ignited my passion as a scientist and my belief in the beauty industry at a time when marketing hype is everywhere and so many new products are launched amid a sea of spin, DMK Cosmetics are a truly out of the box!”
