Television personality Sonia Kruger has teamed up with Three Warriors to bring sunshine in a bottle to the market with the launch of the Radiant Complexion Serum. Here, she shares her journey into the world of skincare. Interview by Anita Quade.
Professional Beauty: Three Warriors is renowned for its beauty products. Tell us why you paired with the brand to create the Radiant Complexion Serum by Sonia Kruger?
Sonia Kruger: “I was working on The Voice when my makeup artist, Simone Forte, used Three Warriors Self-Tan Mousse on me. The results were instant; it didn’t have a strange smell, didn’t transfer onto clothes, and I loved that it was certified organic. It’s also Australian made using local ingredients. From day one, it felt like a natural partnership, and we always said we would develop a product together. I am thrilled we’ve made it happen.”
PB: How did the idea come about?
SK: “We essentially created this serum because I really enjoy using the Three Warriors self-tan products as an alternative to sun exposure, which can cause a lot of skin damage. However, my day job requires me to wear a fair amount of makeup, and I need to cleanse my face often, which can leave my face a little lighter than the rest of my body when using the self-tan range. Even if you’re someone who doesn’t use self-tan products, your face can still appear a bit lighter because most people use makeup and sunscreen daily. I thought it would be great to combine a skin serum that you use at night, after completing your routine, with just the perfect amount of glow, so you wake up looking refreshed and radiant.”
PB: It was three years in development. Tell us about the journey.
SK: “Developing just the right combination of ingredients was really important to us. It’s a product that is going to give skin a boost, whatever your age or gender. For me, it creates the look of well-rested skin – as if you’ve just come back from a holiday, and that feeling is fantastic. Getting the perfect formula with the right percentage of tan for everyday radiance was key, along with the essential elements we expect from a serum: hydration, repair, brightening, and nourishment. When I’m not working, I prefer to go without makeup. With this product, I don’t need to apply foundation or BB cream. It’s just enough to make your skin look even and healthy. You wake up, put on sunscreen, and off you go.”
PB: How involved were you in the process?
SK: “I was involved throughout the whole journey, from creating the idea to developing the formula and packaging. This project is very personal to me, so I wanted to ensure we nailed it. I’m really proud of this serum; it’s been an amazing collaboration and a wonderful experience.”
PB: Any lessons that you learnt while developing the serum?
SK: “That it’s all about the right combination of ingredients, and if you feel there’s a gap in the market, you might be right! So many women have told me they love the product, which is really satisfying.”
PB: Tell us about some of the hero ingredients.
SK: “We developed a high-performance skin serum packed with potent active ingredients like hydrating hyaluronic acid, skin-evening niacinamide, plumping peptides, and strengthening Tasmanian marine collagen. There’s also the perfect amount of buildable golden colour, so the skin looks luminous as well as nourished.”
PB: Any pitfalls you found along the way while trialling and testing the product?
SK: “Just getting the colour right was really important and took a few trial runs. We think we’ve achieved the perfect summer glow for all year round.”
PB: The Radiant Complexion Serum is the first new product Three Warriors has launched in 2.5 years. With slow beauty practices in mind and a quality-over-quantity approach, they’re passionate about creating quality beauty products that represent high value to their community. Is this something that resonates with you?
SK: “I’ve felt a certain sense of ownership with this brand for years because I was an early adopter. I’m always asking the team for the elements I know are missing in my own skincare routine, so partnering with them meant we shared the same goals. Three Warriors’ slow beauty practices, ethics, and commitment to being organic, cruelty-free, and chemical-free were big selling points for me. The formulation we developed offers low-maintenance luminosity, tapping into the ‘less-makeup’ healthy, fresh-faced look, and we are really proud of the product.”
PB: What has the feedback been like from clients?
SK: “We have received some amazing feedback, which has been humbling. I am so happy for the Three Warriors team, who worked so hard on this product.”
PB: Where are you stocked?
SK: “Three Warriors is stocked in over 1000 locations Australia wide, including beauty salons.”
PB: What is it you love most about the beauty industry?
SK: “Now, I love that beauty is no longer typically perfect; we embrace different shapes and sizes. I feel like we are finally getting to a place where beauty is celebrated inside and out.”
PB: You are renowned for your pared-down skin and makeup routine—what is your favourite go-to look?
SK: “I love a low-key weekend look that’s easy to achieve; just some glowing skin and not much else. That’s why I love the Radiance Serum—it gives me a bit of summer glow with minimal effort.”
PB: What are your plans for the future—any more launches in the pipeline?
SK: “It’s only the beginning, for sure. We have so many more ideas for ways to make beauty routines and life easier for busy women!”
