Terese Simone from TAFE Western Sydney Institute has been named the Hairdressing and Beauty Student of the Year at the recent Student Excellence Awards.
These annual awards seek to celebrate the institution’s most outstanding students. Held at Panthers World of Entertainment in Penrith, the awards were presented according to industry areas and training categories.
Terese Simone was awarded the Highly Commended Institute Medal for Hairdressing and Beauty. As a mature age student who recently received her Diploma of Beauty Therapy from Blue Mountains College, Terese dedicated time from her busy schedule to pursue her dream of a career in hair and beauty. She achieved excellent results in all her courses and fostered strong connections within the Blue Mountains hair and beauty industry.
Terese has since opened her own business: “my goal is to grow my business, keep up to date with the latest techniques and offer my clients a multitude of treatments with the highest level of staff,” she said.
Proud of the winners and graduates, Western Sydney Institute’s director Susan Hartigan said this of her students – “our high achieving students have resolutely set about to achieve, working tenaciously towards their career and study goals”.
“There is a rich variety in their backgrounds, their reasons for studying and the places they will take in the Australian workforce. To me, this is the shining beauty of WSI’s technique and influential role in Western Sydney and beyond,” she said.
