The new way to strobe

Proving that strobing is going nowhere, M.A.C Cosmetics (the originators of the trend with M.A.C Strobe Cream) has just launched its new Strobe Collection. We talk to Carol Mackie, Senior Artist at M.A.C Cosmetics about the new technology making inner glow even more achievable.

Strobing has been such a big hit, do you think it’s set to continue?

Highlighting and contouring has always been used by makeup artists to sculpt and shape the face. More recently with awareness on social media, strobing has become the new term for highlighting the face. What’s different is with new technology in product formulations, we can create subtle washes of translucent highlights that become part of the face.

Does this new collection compliment M.A.C’s original Strobe Cream?

At M.A.C we have used Strobe Cream for many years to highlight the face, mixing it into foundations to give a luminous finish or as a moisturiser to brighten the face as well as buffing it over cheekbones to catch the light. Now we have so many new and innovative products to choose from to take highlighting to different levels… Strobing a not going away, there just may be a new quirky name or term for it!!

Why has this makeup technique taken off the way it has?

People have become more aware of the technique with social media and celebrities showcasing healthy glowing skin on the red carpet, has played a part also.

What does this new Strobe collection from MAC offer professional makeup artists?
