With summer fast approaching, we’re about to be inundated with mobs of hairy clients looking for smooth, fur free skin. If you’re keen to get them in and out the door as quickly as possible without compromising on quality, you might want to give cartridge waxing a go. Here’s why…
It’s quick
Once you’ve perfected your technique (rolling the cartridge head along the skin without too much pressure is best), cartridge waxing will become your go-to treatment for large areas like legs and backs. Because you apply the wax using a roller attached to the cartridge, you don’t waste time spreading it with a spatula. Just roll on and wax off, easy!
It’s less messy
If you’re anything like us, you’ll have spent valuable time cleaning wax up off the floor, the bed, yourself…But with cartridge waxing, accidental spills and drips are a thing of the past. It’s all packaged neatly so even the busiest (ok and clumsiest) among us won’t be able to mess it up. Caronlab has a full range of single-use and refillable cartridge waxes which are ideal for busy salons.
It’s economical
Cartridge heads have been designed to give a thin, consistent application of wax, meaning you use less per treatment. You can also buy reusable cartridges and extra heads, so instead of throwing a half-full cartridge away after using it on a client, you simply swap the roller head for a new one and use every last drop!
It’s convenient
If you’re a mobile therapist, you’ll know how stressful transporting hot pot wax can be. With cartridge waxing, the good stuff is packaged up neatly meaning no messy disasters along the way.
You can also choose the size of your heater, from a single cartridge unit to bigger versions. If you pick a larger heater you can have several warming up and ready to go at a moment’s notice, so you’ll always be prepared for that emergency half leg.
It’s hygienic
Most cartridges are single use, making the system extremely clean with no risk of double dipping. With reusable cartridges, sanitising and replacing the head between clients keeps things sterile and the systems are designed so wax doesn’t roll back into the cartridge when you’re applying it.
It’s versatile
While most therapists use cartridges for large areas like the legs and back, different sized roller heads mean you can also use this method for bikini and facial waxing. While we’d still recommend using hard wax for Brazilians and other intimate areas, there’s no reason you can’t adopt cartridge waxing for most other jobs.
Have your say: Do you use wax cartridges at your salon? What do you think of them?

On hygiene with the cartridge. By single use do you mean you only use the cartridge once and dispose of it. Do you have one cartridge per client? Otherwise there is a huge risk of the wax becoming contaminated. The roller moves around on the skin picking up anything that may be there and putting it back into the remaining wax in the cartridge once the roller goes back around, there is no cartridge on the market that can stop this. So more hygienic than single dipping? I don’t think so.
