Best known for her TV appearances on Sunrise and The Morning Show, Dr Ginni Mansberg explains why choosing the right ingredients in your skincare products is so important.
We know that ingredients can be used in a variety of forms and potencies which can affect how well a product works on our skin, as well as the cost of a product. But there’s a lot more to your formulations than you think – it’s not just about how much is in it – it’s what’s in it that counts.
With a specific focus on scientifically-backed ingredients, only the most effective and complementary ingredients are incorporated into ESK’s formulations. Sure, the percentage of active ingredients is high to ensure effectiveness, but it’s the way each product is pieced together that makes them truly unique.
Here’s why.
Ingredients Interact with Each Other
While some ingredients work well on their own, others perform best when used in conjunction with other actives. For example, Vitamin E (Tocopherol) has no evidence of being beneficial when applied to the skin by itself (in fact the reverse may be true), it has however been shown to enhance the effectiveness of Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C). Specifically, the combination is synergistic in protection from the sun’s UV radiation – which is responsible for about 80% of pollution based premature skin aging. That only adds to Vitamin C’s benefits as one of the most effective ingredients for revising dark circles, uneven skin tone and texture, as well as ageing.
ESK’s Reverse C Serum combines both vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid) and vitamin E (Tocopherol) in their most potent forms and at the concentrations shown to be most effective to revise and minimise the appearance of fine lines, pigmentation and skin roughness.

Inferior vs Superior Ingredients
While Retinol, a form of Vitamin A, is one of the most commonly used ingredients in age management creams, it is far from the best. While highly regarded by consumers, and often used by manufacturers because of its ease of access and relatively lower cost, Retinol has weak evidence to support its effectiveness and it can be irritating at doses used. In fact, it is another form of vitamin A, Retinal, that has been shown to be most effective in stimulating cell growth, and enhancing collagen production with very little irritation. Retinal has also been shown to revise acne, pigmentation and fine lines making it an all-rounder in terms of skin revision and rejuvenation – in fact Retinal is the MUST HAVE ingredient in any evidence based anti -aging skin care regime.
ESK’s products including Ultimate A and Ultimate A+ utilise the superior Retinal over the inferior, Retinol making them two of ESK’s top selling products.

ESK’s products are formulated based on scientific studies that are peer-reviewed and published in major medical journals. ESK only utilise ingredients which have been proven to be effective in independent clinical trials. ESK’s products are pH balanced and use the exact ingredients that have shown to actively work in revising ageing skin, pigmentation, acne, and skin texture and tone.

This article would have way more credibility if it wasn’t just another “expert” pushing their skin care range. A GP is not a dermatologist. And some of her claims are completely false with no supporting references except the very vague ” based on scientific studies that are peer-reviewed and published in major medical journals”.
