We catch up with Ultraceuticals head of education, Tracey Beeby, to find out more about her role.
How long have you been with Ultraceuticals?
Almost seven years. I started working in clinic then in the office for a few days a week before getting involved with education. Prior to that I owned and ran two salons in Sydney and had Ultraceuticals in stocked right from the beginning when there were just three products. I had been to Dr Heber’s first training seminar on glycolic and was hooked.
What does your job involve?
I am the national training manager so co-ordinate all the training for seminars conducted nationally and internationally in NZ, with my colleague Alycia Lucas. I do quite a bit of travel and am very busy, usually in another state every few days. Every account will attend a three-day seminar where we teach practical knowledge and demonstrations. We also hold training in each state for new product launches and are now doing advanced education modules on subjects such as ageing.
Why is education so fundamental to your brand?
Education is key – we are skin experts and our accounts are always keen to know more. We are privileged to be associated with Dr Heber and Dr Patrick Stanford—two of the most amazing skincare minds—Dr Heber has experience of working on the skin practically and knowledge with different ingredients. While Patrick, an ex-lecturer at Cambridge University, has been with us since 2003. He is a top skincare scientist in terms of the industry and knows ingredients better than anyone else.
What does your training involve?
We are very privileged and have information to hand. It is just a matter of co-ordination when knowing what to presesnt. With each new product that’s released we have an SRMD (Scientifically Referenced Marketing Dossier) – a very intense booklet containing medical references to back-up any claims we are making on a particular ingredient and its benefits on the skin. We have also compiled a one page document that gives short and sweet bullet points for therapists to explain to clients.
What is unique about your treatments?
Sonophoresis (sound waves) is used in all our signature treatments and is part of our protocol. The sound waves allow the product to reach lower layers of the dermis – far deeper than through hand massage. It is also a good procedure post-medical treatment to infuse vitamin A. Since it is just sound there are no contra-indications.
What’s next for the brand?
With Ultraceuticals already available in the US and Russia, our next goal is the European market and we have plans for the UK France, SA and Canada this year.
