The program for the Association of Professional Aestheticians of Australia’s (APAA) annual Australasian Aesthetic Educational Conference, to be held later this month, has been announced. The APAA is also inviting sponsorship of the event from interested parties.
The two-day conference will be held at the Crowne Plaza, Surfers Paradise, from 30th to 31st May 2009.
This year sees a smaller, more “boutique conference”, with the APAA stating that the organisation’s new Board wished to return to the main principal of the association; which is education.
The conference will feature leading educators covering a variety of topics to empower attendees to face the challenging times ahead with greater confidence.
Speakers and topics include:
Danny Gumm – Peace of Mind in Difficult Times
Paul Carbis – Watch Your Profits Simply Soar by Maximising Staff Performance
Paul Fister – Dehydration of the Skin: Causes and Remedies
Dr Gudrun Dieberg – Hormones and their Manifestations in the Body
Pam Stellema – Lead to Succeed
Tina Czech – Remedial Approach to the Managment of Chronic Skin Disorders
Dr Harvey May – A Social, Cultural and Media Analysis about People and Aesthetics, Procedure and Treatments.
Following on from the success of last year’s inaugural National Student Conference, the APAA will again host a one-day conference for the industry’s future beauty therapists on May 31. The conference aims to teach graduating students business savvy when they first look for work. Topics include job search and presentation skills, and how to be successful in your career.
Another event forming part of the conference is The APAA National Nail Competition, which will be held on Saturday, May 30. The Australian Nail Cup provides an opportunity for nail technicians to compete in various categories of the application of gel and acrylic French sculpture, salon art, design sculpture and Total Look.
The Total Look presentation will include nails, makeup, hair and costume, and competitors’ efforts will be showcased at the APAA Cocktail Party on the Saturday night.
Sponsorship opportunities range from Platinum to Bronze levels, as well as sponsorship of the student conference and nail competition. Interested parties should call the APAA head office on (07) 5575 9364
