Australasian College Broadway helps Sydney’s homeless

Australasian College Broadway, together with Hairdressers on the Move provided over 40 hairdressers to give free haircuts to Sydney’s homeless community at the Sydney Homeless Connect event held in June.

Sydney Homeless Connect hosted an event for over 2000 people in June at Sydney’s Town Hall. Doctors, dentists, hairdressers, clothing suppliers, legal advisers and many more representatives of the wider community provided their supplies and services on the day for those in need.

Chairman and founding director of thee Australasian College Broadway, Maureen Houssein-Mustafa OAM said it has always been a priority for the college to give back to the community and Sydney Homeless Connect provided a real opportunity to provide grass roots assistance which many take for granted.

“With the college’s ongoing volunteer work program within the community, our staff and students learn about giving back and how important it is to help those who need it. It’s fantastic to see how excited and enthusiastic the students are about this,” said Ms Houssein-Mustafa.

Sydney Homeless Connect is one of many different events and charities that the college gets involved with. The college has a regular volunteer calendar and places great importance on good community values.
